JJ Jewelry · Custom & Bespoke
Custom Design
A one-of-a-kind piece, designed for one person. Whether you're proposing, redesigning a piece you inherited, or commissioning something for a milestone, our workshop builds it from the first sketch to the final polish.
One of a Kind
Every custom piece is unique to you. No replicas.
GIA Gemologist
Designed and vetted by Janice, JJ's founder.
4 to 8 Weeks
Typical timeline from approval to delivery.
The JJ custom process
A clear path from your first idea to the piece in your hand. You approve every stage before we move to the next.
Conversation
We start with a chat. Tell us who the piece is for, the occasion, any reference images, and your timeline. Available by showroom appointment, WhatsApp, or video call.
Concept & materials
Janice sketches the design and presents stone and metal options. If you're bringing heirloom stones, we evaluate them at this stage. You see options before any commitment.
Quote & deposit
Once the concept is set, we provide an itemized quote covering materials, design, and crafting. A 50% deposit confirms the order and starts the design phase.
Design approval
We send detailed renderings or a 3D CAD model for your approval. This is the moment to refine details. Nothing moves to production until you sign off.
Crafting
Our workshop brings the design to life. Stone setting, soldering, polishing, and final inspection. We share progress photos at key milestones.
Delivery
First fitting at our Miami showroom, or insured FedEx shipment with photos sent ahead. Final balance is due before the piece leaves the workshop.
What we customize
- Engagement rings. Our most common custom commission. From classic solitaires to one-of-a-kind cocktail-style settings.
- Heirloom redesign. Bring us pieces you've inherited and rarely wear. We can reset stones into a modern design that becomes wearable again.
- Anniversary and milestone pieces. A piece that marks a moment. Birthdays, anniversaries, births, weddings.
- One-of-a-kind cocktail rings. Statement pieces built around a special stone or color combination.
- Matching pieces. Earrings to match an existing JJ necklace, a band to complement an engagement ring, a set built over time.
- Charm bar additions. Custom pendants or charms inspired by the JJ Charm Bar collection.
What helps us help you
You don't need to come with a finished design. You just need a starting point. The more of these you can share at the first conversation, the faster we can land on the right direction.
- A clear sense of who the piece is for and the occasion.
- Reference images, screenshots, or sketches of styles you love (or styles you don't).
- Any stones you want to incorporate, including heirloom diamonds or family gemstones.
- A budget range. Knowing this lets us guide you to materials and approaches that work, instead of designing something that won't fit your envelope.
- A target date. Anniversary, proposal, birthday. We work backwards from there.
About the stones
- GIA Expert Vetted. Every diamond and colored gemstone in a JJ custom piece is reviewed by Janice or her certified team before purchase.
- Conflict-free sourcing. We work only with suppliers who can document the origin of their stones.
- Heirloom stones welcome. We evaluate inherited stones before incorporating them. If a stone is too damaged for resetting, we'll tell you honestly and suggest alternatives.
- Lab-grown or natural. Both options available. We help you understand the tradeoffs in cost, environmental impact, and resale value before deciding.
Timeline
- Simple modifications (engraving, chain length change, minor design swap): 1 to 2 weeks.
- Made-to-order pieces (existing JJ designs, custom metal or stone): 4 to 6 weeks.
- Full custom design: 6 to 8 weeks from approval. Complex one-of-a-kind designs may take longer.
- Heirloom redesign: 6 to 8 weeks, plus 1 to 2 weeks for stone evaluation before the design phase begins.
Pricing & payment
- Custom pieces are quoted individually based on materials, complexity, and timeline. You receive an itemized breakdown before any work begins.
- A 50% deposit confirms the order and starts the design phase.
- The final balance is due before the piece leaves the workshop.
- No charges are added after quote approval unless you request changes to the design or materials.
Final sale
Because each custom piece is made specifically for one person, custom orders are final sale. They cannot be returned or exchanged.
This is why we build in approval at every stage: the conversation, the concept, the quote, and the final design rendering. You never commit to something you haven't reviewed.
If your piece arrives with a manufacturing defect or doesn't match the approved design, we make it right at no cost. Reach out within 14 days of delivery.
The first conversation is complimentary, with no commitment. Tell us what you have in mind.
